Mindfultober 2025 Art Challenge

Date

I’m so excited to share that we’re back with our mindful October Art Challenge: Mindfultober 2025!

I’ve teamed up with three amazing artists and fellow Skillshare Top Teachers Mel Rye, Jutta Schneider and Fatih (Fab) Mıstaçoğlul to bring you this month-long art challenge to allow us to take a lovely collective and creative mindful pause at what can be a very busy time of year.

What is Mindfultober?

Mindfultober is what I like to call the Chill October Art Challenge. There are loads of October art challenges, including the OG October art challenge, “Inktober”. Most of these are daily art challenges and both Mel and I have found that October is exactly the wrong month for us to be doing anything like that. For me at least, October is already jam-packed. There are school holidays, there’s Halloween, and there’s a lot of busyness floating around. Adding a daily challenge on top of that is not manageable and what Mel and I both felt we needed was something that encouraged us to slow down and put some time aside for ourselves. Not to challenge ourselves but to restore ourselves. And that is what Mindfultober is all about.

How Mindfultober 2025 works

Mindfultober runs on Instagram, where we encourage you to share your work made in response to each of the four prompts, and tell us how you found the process. There are no restrictions on mediums, and you can do the prompts in whatever order you want. Each host offers a prize, and after the challenge ends, each host chooses a winner randomly.

Low on creative mojo?

If you’d love to join in with Mindfultober but are feeling stuck or uninspired, we will be posting draw-along tutorials on our YouTube channels throughout the month, so feel free to join in that way!

Also, have a read at earlier years Mindfultober blogs, or an earlier post where I give five mindful watercolour activities, and if you need some convincing, have a read at why I think watercolour is great for relaxation.

October 2025 is also the four year anniversary of when Mel and I both independently published classes on making mindful art! It’s definitely the season for it. Check them out for even more ideas:
