Description
The (misleadingly named?) Water of Leith is Edinburgh’s main river. It formed at the end of the last Ice Age as a drainage channel for the meltwater released from the ice on the Pentland Hills. It is around 12,000 years old.
This particular view of the Water of Leith comes from a spot near my home, accessed by climbing over a fence and then down a wall.
Part of the five-piece “Edinburgh Dreamscapes” series, this painting was created digitally using traditional techniques. The series explores those special places within the city that seem untouched by human presence. Evoking a dreamlike, mystical atmosphere, this collection invites viewers into a fantastical vision of Edinburgh landscapes.
