Hello friends, this week I made a stock drop at Leith Makers, topping up my stock of Edinburgh Dreamscape prints and postcards, and – excitingly – I’ve added a new product into the store: signed A5 and A4 fine-art prints of my original watercolour painting, “Awakening”:

I know you’re not supposed to have favourites, but this is one the pieces that I’ve made that I like the best. And as part of the packaging for these prints, I did did my best to put into words what I was trying to express with this painting. I wrote:
“I see waking up as surfacing from the abyss. A journey of climbing through dim and murky depths towards light and clarity. For literal or metaphorical awakenings, there’s always a sense of the dragging resistance of dark water and the struggle towards the light of awareness.”

This is the first time I’ve made signed prints of this available to purchase. You might be aware that I have had unsigned prints available for some time from my webshop, but I think there’s something important in being able to see a piece of art with your own eyes, in the flesh, not mediated through technology. You see the colours exactly as they are, you have a better sense of its texture, get an accurate sense of its size and scale.
To achieve this I worked with Bare Branding, using the same sort of process I described in an earlier blog post. They did a fantastic job of faithfully replicating the original, which sits proudly in my living room:

Prints are all signed, come with a white border, in A5 and A4 sizing, and are ready to be popped into a standard-sized (and therefore easily acquired) frame. They are priced at £12 for A5, and £25 for A4.
